Born in Strelka Central of The City in 1964, Corey was the second of the three Byrd sisters. According to her father, unlike her sisters, Corey was a very placid child. She attended an average Strelka primary school before her parents enrolled her into the Strelka Police Force Academy (SPFA). Corey struggled as a student of the SPFA as she was more skilled in academic areas rather than in combat and tactical judgement. She excelled in her science classes and was highly praised by her teachers.
During her school years, Corey had very few friends and was often bullied by her classmates, encouraged by her younger sister, Sidney Byrd.
As the academy was a boarding school, Corey and her sisters were rarely at the Byrd family home as teenagers. In the first years Corey struggled with homesickness as she was very close to her father.
After leaving the SPFA in 1982, Corey joined the Strelka Police Security (SPS) for five years before being promoted to an Strelka Police Force (SPF) officer. However, after one year, Corey left her position as an SPF officer. She returned 6 years later in 1994 to work undercover.
After leaving the SPF in 1989, Corey withdrew from friends and co-workers and became almost nocturnal. She rarely left her flat and on the occasion that she did, she would go out in the evenings and mingle with strangers. She also began dancing at very low-rate clubs.
It was during these years that Corey's off-beat wit and appearance caught the attention of many members of elite clubs. She gradually joined a wide social circle of wealthy club dwellers, sporadically picking up dancing jobs around the place. Corey became very friendly with many of the older guests and would often sleep with them. As Corey had no permanent job and was mostly living off her savings, she began to struggle financially. To remedy this, she made sure to acquire all she could from her encounters.
As Corey spent years in the exclusive and private club scene, she became a witness to criminal activity and secretive information about the people surrounding her. It was at this point that she re-approached the SPF, hoping that her current position would enable her to work undercover and earn a salary.
After re-joining the SPF in 1994, she provided valuable intelligence on crime circles and was credited for many of the major SPF arrests over the next few years. In 1997, she was awarded an SPF Badge of Exceptional Service.
Even after the governmental overhaul in 1998, Corey continued to work as an undercover SPF agent until the force merged with the NCP (Noirian City Police) in 2002, which caused the disbandment of her department. She was offered a position as a police officer for the new CPF (City Police Force) but declined it saying "[she] would never go through that training again, ever".
