Edward was born the son of a very successful pharmaceuticals company and attended Southbridge School where he met his friends Adrian Willis and Richard Blackburn. The three of them remained friends into adulthood with the addition of Stephan Dankworth.

After graduating Southbridge School, Edward attended University but once his studies were completed, he remained unemployed, unsure what he wanted to pursue in life.
