Shatek was born in The City to a young girl as a result of a sexual assault she endured at the hands of her stalker. He was then abandoned by her as a baby in the inner city where he was taken by a homeless man who named him "boy". Shatek grew up on the streets with his man, becoming his bodyguard as the man grew older and his vision went.

After the man passed away due to illness, Shatek spent more and more time in the sewers and also joined various gangs throughout his youth. During this time, he gave himself a variety of different names but settled on "Shatek T". He began to bring food and water to other abandoned children and eventually took them down into the sewers to live with him until they became teenagers. With his family of children, Shatek claimed his own turf within The City and became a feared gang leader.

In the early 1990s, Malcolm Moore offered Shatek the opportunity to join them under the MM family. Shatek accepted after they convinced him this alliance would ensure a better future for his children. Once part of Malcolm Moore, Shatek acted as a strong arm for their turf (which also included his) while continuing to lead his children.

In 1997, Malcolm Moore instructed Shatek to assassinate Marcus Charbonneau which he did at a public rally. However, Malcolm Moore then used him as a scapegoat and shot him, framing themselves as the heroes.
